Slideshow Troubleshooting
Having issues with your live slideshow? Here are solutions to common problems.
Photos Not Appearing
New Uploads Not Showing
If guests are uploading but photos aren't appearing on the slideshow:
- Wait a moment - There's typically a 5-15 second delay
- Check your internet - The slideshow device needs a stable connection
- Refresh the page - Press F5 or use browser refresh
- Verify uploads - Check the gallery to confirm photos were actually uploaded
Slideshow Shows No Photos at All
If the slideshow is completely empty:
- Make sure at least one photo has been uploaded to your event
- Check that you're viewing the correct event's slideshow
- Try opening the slideshow in a different browser
Before Your Event
Test everything before guests arrive! Upload a test photo and make sure it appears on your slideshow setup. This saves stress during the actual event.
Display Issues
Slideshow Not Going Fullscreen
To make the slideshow fill the entire screen:
- Windows/Linux: Press F11
- Mac: Press Control + Command + F, or click the green button
- Browser menu: Look for "Full Screen" or "Enter Full Screen"
Black Bars on Sides
If you see black bars around the slideshow, it's usually an aspect ratio mismatch. The slideshow adapts to different screen sizes, so some letterboxing is normal.
Photos Look Stretched or Cropped Oddly
Photos maintain their aspect ratio—we don't stretch them. Vertical photos on a horizontal screen will have bars on the sides, which is normal and expected.
Connection Issues
Slideshow Freezes or Disconnects
If the slideshow stops updating:
- Check your WiFi connection
- Refresh the browser page
- Make sure the laptop/device hasn't gone to sleep
- Disable any battery saver or low power modes
Venue WiFi Problems
Event venues often have unreliable WiFi. Solutions:
- Mobile hotspot: Use your phone's hotspot as a backup
- Dedicated device: Don't share the slideshow connection with other activities
- Ask venue staff: They may have a more stable network available
Hardware Issues
Can't Connect to TV/Projector
Common connection problems and solutions:
HDMI not working
Try a different HDMI port, check cable connections, restart the display
No picture on projector
Change laptop display settings to "Extend" or "Duplicate"
Picture but no sound
The slideshow doesn't have audio, so this is normal
Display resolution looks wrong
Adjust display settings on your laptop to match TV resolution
Screen Goes to Sleep
Prevent your device from sleeping during the event:
- Windows: Settings → Power & Battery → Screen timeout → Never (while plugged in)
- Mac: System Preferences → Energy Saver → Turn off display: Never
- Keep it plugged in: Running on battery can trigger sleep modes
Browser Issues
Recommended Browsers
For best results, use:
- Google Chrome (recommended)
- Microsoft Edge
- Safari (Mac)
- Firefox
Clear Cache if Problems Persist
If the slideshow is behaving oddly, try clearing your browser cache or opening in an incognito/private window.
